A Magical Mother-Daughter Shoot at Birmingham Botanical Gardens
As a West Midlands-based photographer, I’m often fortunate to capture unique, heartwarming moments that tell a story. Recently, I had the joy of photographing a mother-daughter duo who brought a touch of whimsy and nostalgia to Birmingham Botanical Gardens, dressing up in a Wizard of Oz theme that was perfect for the autumn season.
Against the backdrop of the garden’s rich autumnal hues, they fully embraced the magic of the classic tale. The little one, dressed as Dorothy, clutched her sparkling ruby slippers and gazed up at her mother—her own Glinda the Good Witch—with a look of pure admiration and trust. It was clear that her mother was her guide, protector, and friend, all wrapped into one.
Each shot captured the love between them, from shared smiles to gentle glances, underscoring the bond they share. As leaves drifted down around them, the scene felt like a page from a storybook—both enchanting and timeless. Moments like these remind me of the power of photography to freeze love, laughter, and cherished memories in time.
Thank you to this wonderful mother and daughter for inviting me to capture their journey down the yellow brick road. I hope these images bring them as much joy as they brought me creating them.
